Frequently asked questions

What interest rate do UAE credit cards charge?▾

Most UAE banks charge between 2.99% and 3.99% per month on unpaid balances, which works out to roughly 36–48% a year. Islamic cards charge a comparable profit rate or fixed monthly fee instead of interest.

What is the minimum payment on a UAE credit card?▾

Usually 5% of the outstanding balance or AED 100, whichever is higher, plus any fees and instalment plan amounts. Paying only the minimum can take years to clear the balance.

Is a balance transfer worth it?▾

Often, yes. Many UAE banks offer balance transfers at 0% for 6–12 months or a low flat fee. As long as you clear the balance before the offer ends, you can save most of the interest shown in this calculator.

Does carrying a balance affect my credit score?▾

High utilisation — using a large share of your limit — can lower your AECB score, and missed payments hurt it more. Paying on time and bringing the balance down both help.
